ABOUT

The Trust

In 1975, a small group of greyhound lovers formed the Greyhound Trust to help secure a bright future for Britain's retired racing greyhounds. In the early days, the Trust found just a few hundred homes a year through a limited branch network. We've come a long way over the last 40 years, and now help over 4,500 greyhounds a year through our volunteer-led branches.

Who We Are

Jenny and I (Kev) were introduced to Greyhounds in January 2016 (3 years ago at the time of writing) and we instantly fell in love with the breed. Having both come from dissolved marriages, the greyhounds was a strong common bond between us and this has grown ever since. So much so that in early 2018 we decided that we wanted to help find loving homes for retired ex racers, and so our homing journey began.

We lived in a beautiful detached 3 bedroom bungalow in Heanor, Derbyshire with a large garden and fantastic neighbours and over the 3 years homed 4 of our own greyhounds. However, in order to look after so many more, we needed to move and we starting searching for a larger property. Unfortunately, we simply could not afford to stay in Derbyshire due to the high property cost, and we eventually found our present home, here in Lincolnshire, on a sizeable plot with secured fencing all around.

In July 2018 we made the move and gave up our successful curtain and blind company which we had built up over 10 years, moved away from friends and family to follow our dream. Jenny initially found it particularly hard, as her 23 year old daughter didn’t want to move and decided to stay in Heanor. Needless to say, Jenny and Beth keep ‘facetime’ in business and we now know the times of every train from Skegness to Langley Mill station. We had to wait a very frustrating 5 months before the kennels were erected and in fact, we didn’t take in our 1st dogs until January 2019, six months after we moved.

In order to make ends meet, Jenny has taken a small part time job until the Trust is fully established. I look after the dogs and whenever possible, try and work on the house which requires major repairs. If anyone would like to help us and become a volunteer, whether that be for walking a dog, keeping our social media up to date or simply cuddling these gorgeous dogs, then please, do not hesitate to get in touch. Jenny and I would love to see anyone one at the Branch and introduce you to the dogs we have in our care here at Camp Skegness.
